Skin Care: Tips for All Skin Types
Many people make the mistake of buying products that aren’t right for their skin. The goal is to determine your skin type before you buy any cleansers or moisturizers. There are four major skin types and below are some skin care tips for each one.
Which Skin Type Do You Have?
Oily Skin: If your skin tends to look shiny, is covered with enlarged pores and has visible blackheads, you have oily skin. Oily skin is also prone to acne breakouts as well. You probably have one of the more difficult skins to manage, but there are solutions for you.
• You should use oil-free products that are gentle on the skin. Water-based moisturizers rather than thick creams are the most effective. Luckily, your chances of getting wrinkles and older looking skin are less.
Combination Skin: If you only experience oily skin around your nose and forehead and dry areas around your checks, then you have combination skin.
• You should make sure to cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser and use moisturizers around the dry areas. You can also benefit from a facial mask once a week and regular use of skin toner.
Dry Skin: If you dab tissue on your face and you don’t see any spots, then your skin is dry. You may also experience flaking and tightness after the dab.
• Dry skin should use oil-based moisturizers as opposed to water. You should also use a toner after cleansing followed by moisturizer to lock in the moisture. Your skin is also vulnerable to aging so sunblock is important.
Sensitive Skin: If your skin is always extremely dry, you feel tightness and experience inflammation then your skin is sensitive. Sensitive skin will have blemishes, redness and scaly parts that can be itchy.
• You should take extra measures to treat your skin so that it is not painful and difficult. Most people with sensitive skin seek dermatologist advice but some basic tips include using products that are hypoallergenic and avoid ones with fragrances.
Once you determine your skin type, you can seek out products that are more appropriate so that your skin will look even and smooth.
